Together for a sustainable future

Sustainability & responsibility

Start / About us / Sustainability & responsibility

We are a Swedish, family-owned company now in its fifth generation, located in the heart of nature — with Hanö Bay, Stenshuvud National Park, and our apple orchards as our closest neighbors. Surrounded by nature, caring for it comes naturally to us. Sustainability and responsibility are deeply rooted in everything we do, so that future generations can continue to enjoy the beauty and abundance that surround us.

Care in every step

From our orchards to your table

We embrace the entire value chain — from cultivation and processing to production and sales. Our apples are grown in harmony with nature, and the trees themselves are sustainability heroes, absorbing carbon dioxide and supporting biodiversity. Our products preserve the natural goodness of the fruit and give consumers the opportunity to make more sustainable choices.

Where taste and safety go hand in hand

Safe and delicious

We constantly strive to reduce our resource use and environmental impact. Our products, services, and production must always be safe and reliable — for food, people, and the environment alike. We want to do good in every sense of the word — both in taste and in care. Our overarching sustainability goals therefore include not only high quality and health, but also specific sustainability targets in line with The Swedish Food Federation’s Sustainability Manifesto.

When everything is connected

A wholesome cycle

We embrace the entire value chain — from cultivation and processing to production and sales. Our apples are grown in harmony with nature, and the trees themselves are sustainability heroes, absorbing carbon dioxide and supporting biodiversity. Our products preserve the natural goodness of the fruit and give consumers the opportunity to make more sustainable choices.

Our Work for Sustainability

Fossil‑Free Goal

We are working towards making our operations fossil‑free by 2030, both in production and transportation. All electricity we use is renewable and sourced with certified origin, and our heat is generated from biofuels. Transport between Kivik and our warehouse runs 100 % on fossil‑free HVO, and thanks to more efficient logistics, we have reduced the number of transports by 21 %.

The Juice & Fruit Drink Shelf

At our cidery in Österlen, we create beverages with a long shelf life — without preservatives and without the need for refrigeration. Through gentle pasteurisation and climate‑smart carton packaging, the fruit’s flavour is preserved while energy consumption and food waste are reduced.

Responsible Packaging

We want our packaging to do good — both for the drink and for the environment. That is why we develop smarter solutions with less waste, increased recycling, and greater care. Our goal is for all our packaging to be fully recyclable and part of a sustainable circular system.

Reduced Food Waste

We are working to halve food waste in our own production by 2030. We make use of fruit with irregular shapes or cosmetic imperfections — as long as it tastes good, a principle we have followed since 1935. In our production process, peels and cores are repurposed as animal feed, process water is treated and reused, and residual sludge is converted into biogas. Our climate‑smart packaging extends shelf life without additives and helps reduce food waste all the way to the consumer.

Water Use

Water is one of our most important resources, which is why we take great care of it in our close‑to‑nature environment in Österlen. We use locally sourced groundwater in our production, which is treated in our own facility and then returned to our orchards through drip irrigation — a sustainable circular system we have operated for nearly 30 years. During the colder months, when the trees do not absorb the water, it is released into Hanö Bay, where water quality is carefully monitored. Our goal is to increase the efficiency of water use by 2030.

Responsible Practices in Our Supply Chain

We have a clear Code of Conduct based on international standards for human rights, labour rights, and environmental responsibility. Our goal is for 100 % of our purchases to be sustainably certified by 2030. Through our membership in Sustainable Juice, we work to promote greater sustainability within the fruit juice sector. We ensure that our suppliers comply with our requirements, and internally we take social responsibility seriously, making sure our Code of Conduct is followed. Read more.

Responsibility for Quality, Environment, and Social Responsibility

We are committed to delivering safe, high‑quality products through sound operational management, ensuring that we meet our quality and food safety requirements.

Safe and reliable products are also fundamental to effective quality and environmental management. Our goal is to have no significant non‑conformities, and we work continuously and proactively with quality and environmental management in accordance with FSSC 22000, ISO 14001, as well as our product‑level certifications including KRAV, EU Organic, and Fairtrade.

Health and Well‑Being

We aim to promote health and well‑being at all ages through a healthier product range and clear product information. We reduce added sugar and increase the share of products made with 100 % fruit and no additives — helping to support the daily intake of fruit and vegetables. Through research and collaboration, we continuously develop products that not only taste good, but also do good.

Our Certifications

We ensure quality and product safety through our certifications. Our production facilities are certified according to FSSC 22000 and ISO 14001, verifying both food safety and environmental management. At product level, this is further confirmed through KRAV, EU Organic, and Fairtrade certifications. Our fruit orchards are certified under KRAV or Integrated Production (IP), and our packing facility is certified according to IP Fruit & Vegetables standards, including requirements for working conditions.
